Eumundi Markets on the Sunshine Coast
Every Wednesday and Saturday the Eumundi Market, Queensland, opens to thrill Aussie and international tourists and locals alike. This is a market like no other and has become a world-renowned Sunshine Coast attraction.
The Eumundi Market, Qld, first commenced in 1979 in the sleepy, historic township of Eumundi, and is run by the local historical society.
Each market day visitors are treated to street entertainers and live bands in addition to the fabulous array of stalls, spread beneath a canopy of heritage-listed fig trees. Browse the market, listening to everything from an electronic didgeridoo to bush poetry, or stop to have a foot massage.
World-recognised artists showcase their work alongside high quality locally grown produce, clothes, home-baked goods, jewellery, crafts created from terracotta, leather, clay, glass and wood, and so much more.
Though the Eumundi Market springs from Aussie beginnings, it also features Asian and Mediterranean cuisine alongside true blue and unusual Australian cuisine, including macadamia nut coffee.
The small hinterland township of Eumundi, constructed in the years between 1890 and 1930, still maintains its heritage and is a Sunshine Coast tourist attraction in its own right. Visit the selection of authentic sites, art galleries, restaurants, traditional pubs and retail shops open throughout the week. Or why not truly experience the surrounds and relax back in one of the cosy B&Bs.
Only an hour north of Brisbane along the Bruce Highway and just 20 klms from Noosa (just follow the signs), these Sunshine Coast markets are conveniently located for holidaymakers and day-trippers.
