UnderWater World on the Sunshine Coast
The most popular Sunshine Coast attraction is the beach, but few think to explore what’s underneath the water. Luckily, the folks at Underwater World Mooloolaba have already thought of that, and what’s more, have created a fantastic space in which to view a huge range of sea-life - some you never knew existed.
Underwater World Mooloolaba is Queensland’s largest aquarium and oceanarium. Over 25,000 sea creatures are on show, featuring everything from sharks and seals to dolphins and dory. There is a unique ‘fish bowl’ viewing centre, where you can walk through an aisle that is completely surrounded on three sides by a 2.5 million litre oceanarium!
Believe it or not, it’s not all about under-the-sea creatures. Underwater World Queensland frequently runs special shows, such as Dinosaur World, where you can get up-close-and-personal with full-size ‘dinosaurs’!
At Underwater World Sunshine Coast you can also admire the playful seals in their very own show, be thrilled by some crocodiles, laugh along with some cheeky otters and get interactive with a touch pool. There’s also free entertainment every Sunday at the nearby wharf.
If you’re looking to prolong your stay at the Sunshine Coast, there are numerous options available. Mooloolaba is completely central to Underwater World and what’s more, boasts a huge range of hotels, resorts, and budget accommodation.
With all that’s on offer with sea creatures big and small, it’s not hard to see why Underwater World is one of the best Sunshine Coast attractions. You can combine your love of the beach with a visit to the creatures that live beneath the water.
